Have you ever hired a contractor you couldn't trust?
Check out this video It's quite funny.
Please hire someone you trust. And, check their references. Personally, I think the best place to try is Angieslist.com.

This site ranks professionals in many categories and based solely on customers reviews. So, if you do a good job, that's recognized with A ratings; if you do a bd job, you are in the penalty box. It is extremely objective. For Angieslist, you need to be a paying member - I believe $35 annually and it is well worth it - the quality of the contractors you get is much higher and you can choose to call whomever you want.
Another site to use is Service Magic.com. This site is also good, but it charges the contractors for each lead so you get more people out there just looking for work and willing to pay for the lead and you have no say over who they match you up with. (vs. Angieslist is completely driven by the homeowner and the contractor can't do anything to get more leads...except do an outstanding job for their customers since they know the reviews will make or break them).
We always give our customers a list of over 30 references. Here are some of their testimonials.
And, if you or your clients need a flooring contractor they can trust, please give us a shout. We can help you with hardwood, carpet, tile, sanding & refinishing and more. And, best of all, "We bring the store to your door."

Debbie - That is pretty clever, and it is funny but pretty gross too. Anyway, I like Angie's List too.
I had not heard of Angieslist. Thanks for posting the info.
Sorry about that Susan. But, glad you are a fan of Angie's List. We just joined this year and it's worked out very well for us since our customers are happy. I think there may be options to be listed in there as a realtor, too.
You're welcome, Richard. Hope it comes in handy.
Debbie: I followed your link back to this video and got my arg - ugh - laugh for the day. Thank you and you know that contactors, while not killing off hamsters, are hiding things during a job. You only hope they are not significant.
Valerie - Yes, you're right - that's the broader point. Thank you.
Hope this doesn't happen to you ,moving violations, victims fight scams
The leader of a household moving company, whose business ripped off dozens of people by slamming them with high prices after reeling them in with low quotes. Also loosed my boxes and never resolved. Then they disconnected the main number and we can't reach them anymore.
Maria - I'm really sorry to hear that. Maybe they went out of biz - serves them right.
Sweet, over 3,000 views, good job. Video's are a very powerful blogging tool that we should start using more. ~ Dave
Dave - Thx. Yes, I do need to use them more. I'm not sure if it's the title or the boost from video or both, but clearly this is a topic of interest, so I should write somethin further on the topic.
And now that you have linked it to your business pgae, more views to come! No wonder I couldn't find it right away (I didn't click on it that time--I went to ActiveRain).
Chris - I hope I'm doing this right. making progress, but still lots of q's.
Amen, Debbie. And I thought the video was funny.
I agree that Angie's List is a better rating than Service Magic. I refuse to use Service Magic as a contractor because the service is getting paid 3 times for a lead that they are generating competition for. It's totally a money maker for Servcie Magic, and not a good deal for the contractor as they are paying for guaranteed competition.
Angie's List is totally client driven, and there is no way for me to be put in contact with the customer unless I did a good job and got a good review. Much better method!
Yes, agreed. Angies List is much more customer driven. And, I get nicer customers from there, too.
Nice! I don't get many customers from Angies List (that I know of) yet, but we've just had our first experience with a customer that is on there. She wasn't referred to us from Angies List, but hopefully we'll be able to generate some positive comments from her on there to get the word out! :)
This is hilarious Debbie! I've got to share it. Thank you so much.
Jeremy - I love my customers from Angies List. Thay are the highest quality out of any lead source (except repeat customers).
RRuby Lee - Glad you enjoyed it and thx for reblogging.
